Persecution of Christians is driven by Islamic extremists. In the Sharia states of the north,there have been many attacks on churches and Christian communities in which believers were wounded or killed. In the last year, an estimated total of 1,000 Christians died through persecution. About 5 million Christians are believed to be under intense pressure as a result of their faith. The Boko Haram sect (an Islamic extremist group) has become a serious threat. From 2009 to date they have destroyed over 50 churches and killed approximately 10 pastors.

- Thank God that the church is strong and that Christians express their faith with confidence
- For wisdom for Christian President Goodluck Jonathan governing a Muslim majority population.

You said in your word my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19) and so I ask that you allow this promise to extend to these your people in this region of the world in the name of Jesus of Nazareth & I thank you for it. I loose warring angels to surround them from the enemy & I plead the blood of Jesus over each & every one of them. I ask that you put a hedge of protection around them & allow them to see your hand of protection over them.
Lord, they are doing your work for your glory & you promised in your word that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. I break their powers over that region by the blood of the Lamb. Father I ask that you strengthen all of these children of God with might in their inner man & allow them to be strong in you & in the power of your might in the name of Jesus Christ. I thank you father that you give them power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy & nothing shall by any means hurt them. (Luke 10:19) I ask that you clothe them every day with the full armor of God in the name of Jesus Christ. Cleanse them from all unrighteousness, forgive them for anything they may have done or said that displeased you, forgive them for their sins, iniquities, trespasses, transgressions that they may have committed against you & wash them from the top of their head to the soles of their feet with the blood of the lamb. Yet you call us as believers to come before you on behalf of our brothers and sisters who are suffering persecution throughout the world and intercede on their behalf. So we intercede here, Lord, and ask you humbly to have mercy on these people who are so precious in your sight! Protect them and watch over them. Keep them safe and provide for them ubundantly. Let them only grow stronger in you and shine the saving light of Jesus upon those who do not yet know you. I pray, Father, that these strongholds would be broken. Lord, your Word says that you work all things to the good for those who love and serve you. We ask you that glory would be brought to your name in this situation in Nigeria, as well as to all other areas throughout the world where Christians are persecuted for their faith. Help us to be mindful to continually pray for the persecuted church throughout the world and to stand courageously along side them when we are able. Lord, I come to You tonight on behalf of Northern Nigeria. I did not know that their president was a Christian – thank You, Jesus, for raising him up! Thank You that he can seek You for Your wisdom in governing this land – and I pray that You would give him the vision that he needs to govern a nation that has a Mslm majority. Please show him what to do and what not to do – help him with every decision that he needs to make for this nation!
Lord, I also want to thank You that the church in Nigeria has grown large and strong. Thank You for building Your church and Your people in a difficult land – I love that You have received glory from this. But I also continue to pray especially for the millions of believers who have been persecuted for their faith. They, as all persecuted believers do, need Your supernatural strength and grace to endure this. They need Your power to continue to be a light for You even in difficult, dark circumstances. I pray that You would continue to fight their battles on their behalf against the powers and principalities of this dark world. Cast down any spirits that are over that nation so that the nation can belong to You, Lord!
And God, I ask You to send special comfort tonight to the families of those who have been attacked or killed because of their faith. Only You can help them. Only You can comfort in such a great loss – I don’t even know how You can do it, but I know that You can. Please just go to them – I don’t even know how to pray except to ask You to do the miraculous and to hold them and not let them go and to comfort them and to make it so real to them that they will see their loved one again.

Help them be faithful to you in every circumstance and that even though we are in a world that hates us that they may love their enemies. Provid them with what they need Lord to continue preeching your word.

Lord, forgive me for my selfishness. My biggest problem as I start my day is I’m tired. I slept in a comfortable bed in an air-conditioned home with a security system in place. I am ashamed of my selfishness. I cannot imagine the horror, fear and persecution my brothers and sisters in this far away land are confronting. When I see news stories showing the result of the hacking, mutilization, burning alive and every other kind of destruction going on in other parts of the world, it horrifies me. Our enemy is not only using the boku haram and other organizations to slaughter our Lord’s lambs in many parts of the world, but he is using apathy in the west to try to weaken and destroy the church. Father, I pray for strength and perseverance in the faith the world over. Thank you for the example of those who were willing to die rather than deny you. Let their deaths be a testimony to those who killed them and a reminder to us that someday the same kind of evil could be in our land if we dont stand up and proclaim your name. Only through your power can the world be changed.
Trust in God at all times O people, pour out your hears to him for God is our refuge. Father we know and believe that your people are covered under your holy anointing. We thank God that the church is strong and that Christians can express their faith with confidence – a confidence that comes from knowing who is their God because your word says in Daniel 11:32 ‘the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.’

I just took the 5 minute challenge to pray for Christians in Nigeria – which I did – but, honestly I don’t think there’s anything more I can add to the beutiful and discerning prayers already given!
But, still want to give an online standing ovation to all the Nigerian Christians… false teaching, persecution, all of these are the tactics of the devil, but he wouldn’t be working so hard agaisnt you if you guys weren’t doing something right – weren’t building up the Kingdom of God! I’m in such awe of y’all’s preserverence – I can’t even imagine how you guys do it!

Southern Nigeria is a christian dominary region and we also live in peace with the Northern Region as well as non-christians. but its unfortunately the politicians are not doing any good in reducing this yearly religious violence in Northern Nigeria.
Father Lord I decree that all activities of al Qaeda, and Boko Haram against the christians in Northern Nigeria (especially Jos, Borno, Kaduna, Niger, e.t.c.) will turn on them in Jesus name.

I quite agree that prayer works but i also believe in the workability of retaliation too. Because that would make the enemy to think twise before carrying out attacks. But now the enemy is claiming herro, and believed they are too feared by their victims. If retaliation is adopted the enemy will be weak, but now they are strong. In a nutshell retaliation can weaken them whereby noise making can only make them stronger. In dealing with any enemy try to study that enemy and also find out the appropriate medicine of that enemy. My fellow brothers and sisters we are in trouble. Most christian are deceived in to thinking that this thing is not religious. While they go about their killing of christian and destruction of many churches. Well christians actually have chioce to make it is either they sit and watch how these Islamist kill christian and also destroy their places of worship day in day out. Or take drastic action by retaliating so that these barbaric islamist jihaddist will know that every one have anger.
