Christian Persecution in SyriaBefore the civil war, although meetings were monitored, Christians were respected in society, but this is rapidly changing. Muslim Background Believers (Christians from a Muslim Background) face opposition from family and friends, and also now from foreign extremist fighters and mercenaries. Previously, Christians were persecuted for supporting the government, or not taking sides. Now a clear religious motive has been added by the influx of these foreign radicals. Many Christians have been abducted, physically harmed and killed, churches damaged or destroyed, and tens of thousands of Christians have fled.

  • For the emergency relief and trauma counseling that Open Doors is able to offer
  • Give thanks that, despite the challenges, the Syrian church is reaching out to others

    Almighty God, Father, We come to you in the name above every name that at the name of Jesus, every knee must bow and every tongue must confess that Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We as the body of Christ unite to bombard heaven with prays for your people in Syria. Send your angels to Protect them, Fight for them, and Comfort them. Cause provision to flow freely. Give your people strategies to overcome the enemy and get back everything that has been lost or stolen because of demonic activity. Stop the enemy in his track. Thwart the plans of the evil ones and cause them to grope in the noonday. Let the enemy fall in the very traps that they have laid out for your people. You said in your word that he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadows of the Almighty. Give your people supernatural insight and might so that their arms will be able to break a bow of steel.

    Cause your people to prevail and overtake all!

    Let all these prays be sent out like spiritual torpedoes and bombs and hit the enemy’s camp Bullseye!

    My Dear Lord and Saviour, I pray in Yeshua Ha’Mashiach’s name that all our Christian brothers and sisters in Syria and throughout the world have peace in thier hearts, for Your love overrides all things. I pray You protect them and fill them with the Holy Spirit. For we are blessed in the U.S. that we can worship You in truth and spirit without being in fear of persecution by our government. I pray that Your return is soon, for I know Your mercy and forgivness is available for those who want it.     Lord, this morning I lift up the nation of Syria before You. I first want to thank You for all of the churches like the one that was discussed in this email who are reaching out to the people of Syria and providing help and hope for them during this time. I pray that You would continue to send more workers into this harvest field and prompt more churches to get involved in providing support to a very needy people.

    I want to pray this morning for these tens of thousands of Christians who have been forced to flee their homes. That’s such a huge number but these are individual lives and families that You love and that You died for. Each one is grieving and traumatized and possibly hopeless… but I believe that You can go to each individual one and minister to them in the way that they need to be ministered to. I believe that You can bring each one comfort today and bring each one hope today – help them to see that You have not forsaken them or abandoned them and that You still have a wonderful and amazing plan for each of their lives. I pray that You would be with them in their grief and that you would make others sensitive to their grieving. I pray that You would provide every material need that they have and every emotional need and relational need. I know that You can do this for each individual and I know that this is Your will.
    I also pray for the emergency relief and trauma counseling team that Open Doors has in place in Syria. They need Your wisdom and discernment in approaching every situation individually. They need to be filled with YOUR comfort and Your peace as they minister. I ask for Your provision for everything that this team needs as they seek to be Your hands and feet to the Syrian people who have lost everything. I ask that displaced people would receive comfort and love from this team of workers and that You would order their steps. In Jesus name, amen.

    Our Father in Heaven, we thank you for the Gospel of Christ which has redeemed us to your glory and has given us hope in the life to come. We pray Lord for our brothers and sisters in Syria that Lord you please be with them, protect them and strengthen them. Lord please give them courage to withstand their enemies, pray for them and preach the Gospel to them even. And Lord please also give them joy of their salvation. May they have that joy which can never be taken from them as they suffer for Christ. Lord please be close to them so that as they are “pressed on every side by troubles, they wouldn’t be crushed, perplexed but not driven to despair, hunted down but never abandoned by God and knocked down but not destroyed”.     I pray that You will intervene in this civil war and bring Your Peace to this country You love so much ! O Lord , send Your Holy Spirit upon these Syrian people and, let them be touched by the Spirit that the “masks of hatred” would be removed and they would have their eyes opened to the Love Your Son is offering them by His death on the Cross for their sins . Lord , please touch these people who are fighting amongst themselves and killing senselessly . Father, I pray all of this in the Name above all names, Jesus Christ , Your Son!!

    May the CHRISTians in Syria reach as many hearts as are willing to receive the message Jesus has freely given. May the Holy Spirit prepare the hearts of every muslim, unbeliever & every CHRISTian to hear the Word of God.
